Who is this trip for? - Runners who are interested to get involved in Skyrunning whether it is racing or just for their own pleasure to try a different style of mountain running.
The Terrain - On all of our trips we run on a variety of different trails from smooth and easy to rocky and technical. There are many places where you will be simply hiking as the trails can get steep. On this trip in some areas you will be required to use your hands to do some very easy scrambling with mild exposure in a safe environment.
Weather - We hope you can always experience Romsdal in perfect sunshine and blue skies, however, we cannot predict the weather so please be prepared for all mother nature can throw at you. Warm, hot and sunny to Wet, windy and challenging!
Required Kit - We email out a much more detailed kit list upon booking but the main essentials are,
Comfortable trail running shoes with a good grip.
Running t-shirts(long & short sleeved)
Running shorts and/or tights.
Comfortable running backpack 10/15L
Capacity to carry 1 litre of water.
Fully Waterproof / Windproof jacket and pants.
Insulated Jacket(preferably synthetic)
Hat / Gloves / Buff.
Sufficient amount of food for the day.
Climbing Helmet (for use on the technique day, can be rented locally)
Example Itinerary -
Day 1 - 17km 1600m, we will run from Andalsnes to the summit of Blanebba and back along the classic Romsdalseggen. This is the perfect start to Skyrunning terrain with some short rocky steps and mild exposure and stunning views.
Day 2 - Technique Day - We will head to the iconic summits of Bispen and Kongen to look at the safest and most efficient way to move over steep, rocky, loose and technical terrain. 10km, 1300m.
Day 3 - The final day will be spent in the Mandalen area where there is a few different options for use to perfect our Skyrunning technique whilst enjoying a final big day out on these stunning mountains. Max distance and ascent 20km, 1400m.
